Golden Cucumber

                Once upon a time there was a farmer couple. They lived in a village near from the forest. They were very happy. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any children yet.

                Every day and every night they prayed to God for a child. One day when they were praying, they heard a voice. That is giant’s voice. He would give a baby to the couple, but they might plant cucumber seed, then they would get a baby. When the baby was 17^th years old, the couple might give her to the giant. Because the couple wanted so much, they agreed without thinking first.

                The couple planted the cucumber seed carefully. A cucumber grew bigger and bigger. Then they cut it up. They were very surprised. They found a beautiful baby inside. They were so happy. She grew into beautiful girl, named Timun Mas. But when she was 17^th years old the couple was sad. Because the giant would took Timun Mas away.

                One day the giant came to farmer couple house and asked for their promised. The farmer tried to be calm “Just a moment, please! She was playing. My wife will call her.” Then the farmer came to his daughter “Take this!  This will help you from the giant. Now, run as fast as you can.” So Timun Mas ran away.

                Meanwhile, the giant had been waiting for a long time. He became impatient. However he knew that the couple had lied to him. So he destroyed their house and ran for Timun Mas.

                The giant was chasing Timun Mas and distance between giant and Timun Mas was closer and closer. Then Timun Mas took a handful of salt from magic stuff. She spread out the salt behind her. Suddenly a wide sea appeared between them. For reaching Timun Mas, the giant had to swim. Timun Mas was still running, but the giant however caught her. Then she took some chilies grew into big trees that have sharp thorns. Because the giant always chased her. So Timun Mas took cucumber seeds from magic stuff. She spread out and suddenly became a wide cucumber field. Because the giant was hungry, he ate many fresh cucumbers and he was sleepy.

                Timun Mas was running as fast as she could. But not long time the giant woken up. Timun Mas was afraid. She took shrimp paste and threw it again. The shrimp paste suddenly became a big swamp. Finally the giant dead, when he passed a big swamp. Timun Mas was safe now. She went back to the farmer couple again. Then they lived happily every after.
